Winter Action Stays Strong

Fishing report from The Fishermen's Fleet in La Paz. 5-6

Fishing is starting to pick up, again. After a couple of weeks of roilly green water we are starting to see changes for the better. Inshore the pargo and cabrilla are biting better, on sardines and rapala's respectively. Those patient enough to drown large baits have had some luck too. Bob Mendoza scored a 58 pound broomtail grouper on a bling bonita 3 days ago. Mr. Mason scored a 32 pound African pompano (that's a very large one) on a squid bait at Punta Perico. Roosters to 55 pounds have been coming in south of Muertos on Sardines. A few yellowtail are still around with fish to 27 pounds coming on sardines at Roca Montana. The first Dorado of the season, nothing large but Dorado nonetheless, are starting to show outside on the buoys, along with good amounts of striped marlin to 130 pounds. We're entering the time of year when the winter fish will start to leave and be replaced by our summer fishery. Another moon phase and we should be lightin' it up down here.
